About the Club
The Central PA Rock and Mineral Club (CPRMC) is a great club for anyone interested in rocks and minerals. We are a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies, Inc. which makes us part of a large community of rockhounds across the country who love everything about rocks!
Our monthly meeting features educational programs on a variety of subjects. Program speakers range from our own club members to university professors and geologists.
And our monthly newsletter, the Rockbuster, includes interesting articles about geology and rock specimens, plus it's packed with information about the club.
Members are able to visit area quarries (and other locations) where we collect specimens of minerals and fossils. Although the general public does not have access to most of these areas due to insurance regulations, our field trip coordinator works with owners to get us access.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced collector, there’s something for everyone!
Do you have a budding geologist in your family? Then we have the perfect program for them too! Our junior program is designed for school-age kids and offers a variety of opportunities for them to learn about rocks and minerals. Junior members meet each month and explore geology and earth history in a fun and relaxed setting. They can even participate in many of our field trips! And participation in certain activities can earn them a prize at the end of the year through our Rock Rewards Program. So if you’re looking for an exciting way to engage younger rock enthusiasts, you’ve found it!
Our Club is 100% volunteer operated with over 100 current members! Members are invited to volunteer at any of our events, or even join a committee (or two lol). We love when members participate!
